Livestrong

(JANUARY 2025) - Sally’s YMCA is proud to announce the launch of a new session of the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program, beginning February 24, 2025. This free, 12-week program is designed to support cancer survivors in reclaiming their health and well-being through physical activity, community connection, and emotional support. The program is open to all adult cancer survivors, regardless of when their diagnosis or treatment occurred.

LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a nationally recognized program that helps adult cancer survivors improve their strength, fitness, and overall quality of life following a cancer diagnosis. Led by certified instructors specially trained in supportive cancer care, the program provides a safe and welcoming environment where participants can rebuild their strength, enhance their physical endurance, and connect with others who share similar experiences. Participants will have access to personalized instruction, small-group activities, and a supportive network of fellow survivors.

“My favorite part of the Livestrong program is that I feel stronger from participating in the program and I have clarity from the disease. We prayed together and for each other. This program is more than exercise. You build upon each lesson. It truly is for your mind, body and spirit, ” said Susan Turner, Livestrong participant at Phifer Family YMCA in 2024.

Program participants meet twice a week for 12 weeks where each class features guest speakers and exercises led by YMCA instructors to strengthen the mind, body, and spirit. This program is free and includes a YMCA membership for the duration of the class. We encourage members of the community to reach out to friends, family members, or colleagues who have been diagnosed with cancer and let them know about this opportunity. Joining LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA can be a transformative experience, offering survivors the chance to rebuild their health and connect with a supportive group
of peers.
